WHO WE ARE

Spot the Sexism is the first campaign by Brighton Women's Voices, a collective of Brighton & Hove residents and representatives from women’s organisations.

LET'S SPOT IT - AND THEN STOP IT

All too often in our media, women are objectified and voiceless. Regardless of their role they are judged first on their appearance and a narrowly defined sexual allure. It is hard to go one day without being subjected to sexist language and images.

More and more men and women have decided that enough is enough and are saying no to sexism. The huge success of projects such as Everyday Sexism and No More Page 3 show how many of us are sick of sexism in our media and culture.

Spot The Sexism Brighton aims to add further weight to this movement by gathering the experiences of residents of Brighton and Hove. As well as raising awareness throughout June all contributions will be complied and presented to Maria Miller (Minister for Women and Equalities).

We hope that this evidence will help bring action for change and it will give people the support to speak out in the knowledge that they’re not alone, they’re not prudish and they’re not over-reacting to “harmless fun” - they’re spotting sexism.
